QMJHL Birth Province Breakdown

The QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) is one of the three main junior leagues in Canada. Looking at players born in Canada, the proportion of Quebeckers has decreased from 90 to 70 percent over the 50-year QMJHL history. The drop has been driven by the influx of players from the Maritime provinces, most notably Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

The chart below shows the relative proportions of different birth provinces in the QMJHL from the 1969-1970 season onwards. Season specific data used in the chart can be found on the birth province totals statistics pages.
