AHL Birth State Breakdown

Minnesota, Massachusetts, Michigan and New York are the biggest producers of American players in the AHL. The share of the four largest states has decreased from 80 to about 50 percent since the 1970s, as the popularity of hockey has grown in other states. The same trend can be observed in the NHL.
